Both Sengigi and Kuta Lombok are lovely. Kuta is much, much quieter and Sengigi is pretty quiet to begin with! Sengigi has a wider variety of hotels and restaurants and a few more hawkers. They're mainly on the beach and pretty board so your best bet is to chat with them. It can be very interesting. As JB said you can go on day trips to the Gilis or you can go out and stay there. I think Gili beaches are best. Enjoy!
