Just back after an 8 day trip and a quick report for those interested.
Yes!! The beach bars along Kuta Beach are GONE!!! None left!!
The hawkers are just as plentiful and just as sneaky as ever..in fact, if they were in australia and did some of the things they regularly do in Bali the jails would be full!! Watch EVERY one of them..ripping off tourists is a sport to them!!
Likewise the money changers..every time they touch your money, then you need to count it again..TWICE!!! save the trouble and go to one of the P.T. Kuta changers..they are every 100 meters and are safe..you may get 500rp to the $ less..but at least you'll GET it!!!!
T- shirts were from 15,000 to 25,000...sarongs 10,000 to 15,000...Bad Girl shorts and skirts about 20,000 to 25,000...Gosha has better and fresher seafood than Jimbaran...the restaurants at Jimbaran are not doing all that much trade these days with the low numbers of tourists...consequently the fish bought on a Monday may well stay on ice till Thursday...and I don't think there is a fridge to be had between the lot of them...also, a 500gm tub of butter from the supermart in Legian weighed 600gm...750gm....625gm...550gm..at 4 different restaurants...Santi Cafe weighed in at 510gm and was nice and fresh....More later...must go eat dinner with the kids..Phil.
