I've just returned from two months in Bali and while there, checked out lots of places that sell software. The best deals (by far) were at a place called PLATINUM (Jl. Teuku Umar 242A, Denpasar TEL: [0361] 231664). The shop is on the main road out of Denpasar going to Kuta (right-hand side, opposite Bank Mega).
A few examples for you:
Office 97 (Professional) Rp 35,000
(They even have Office 2000...same price)
Adobe Photoshop 5.0 Rp 35,000
Corel DRAW 8 Rp 70,000
Encyclopaedia Brittanica (3 CDs) Rp 105,000
They seem to charge by the number of CDs in the pack, at Rp 35,000/CD.
In Ubud, Brittanica is selling for Rp 270,000 (Ubud Music).
I've personally loaded many programmes already with no hassles whatsoever. If you need any more info, please feel free to contact me by email. Some of the shops in Kuta-Legian have some good deals as well, although I found them to be marginally more expensive. Really great deals can be had on MP3 music compilations. Typically, you get about a dozen or more complete albums, some softaware, etc for Rp 35,000.

DON'T pay Rp 70,000 (or more) for any single programmes. DO go and check out PLATINUM...you won't be disappointed (great selection of games also).
