Ubud is about a 50 minute drive from the airport. The taxis at the airport are a fixed price to your destination (no meter) and charge more than meter taxis so you pay quite a bit more. We stayed at the Kuta Jaya Hotel in Kuta the first night as it was only about 10 minutes away from the airport. We then got transport to Ubud next morning when we were bright and fresh.
