First of all, where are you staying? If you don't have it
booked yet, we found Nusa Dua to be just what the doctor
ordered. It was quiet, away from the hustle and bustle, and
perfect for long romantic walks on the beach, anytime, night
or day. White water rafting with Sobek was a lot of fun,
so was parasailing (60000 rupiah), and snorkeling. The
temple tours were also really nice, especially seeing the
temple at Besakih (though the tour guides there can be
extortionists if you aren't aware of their game before you
go) and Ulu Watu, the cliffside temple. Driving around the
countryside is a real treat for the eyes. Dinner at Bumbu
Bali in Nusa Dua was excellent. We hired a driver and went
to a cremation, which was very colourful and really interesting.
As I said, it depends on what you like. Some of the best times
we had in Bali were the simplest, like singing with the locals
in our favourite restaurant, or beach massages (decadent). I
think if you want a romantic holiday, you should stay away from
the bustle of Kuta and head for a quieter area. Read the other
posts here and in the archives for more ideas. Bali is very romantic.
