I. too, snorkeled for the first time in Hawaii. and it took me a good day and a half to get used to the idea.
if you have a terrible terrible phobia, go see a shrink. seriously. a good professional can help you tons!!! if it's a baby fear, just know the more you do it the easier it gets.
and yes, truthfully, there could be sharks anywhere in the ocean at any time. but
1) you don't look like lunch to them and
2)the big dangerous sharks stay mostly out in the deep deep ocean (where you won't be.)
it is not to be considered a real danger. if it were, do you think all those little Johnny's and litlle cynthia's would be snorkeling around? No. it's okay. don't worry.
Barracuda are deep deep water fish. you won't come within MILEs of one.
