I've been to Bali about 6 times and have stayed at the Bali Hyatt 4 times, most recently in Sept '98. The main reason, really, is that it is in Sanur, which is my preferred beach area, although I NEVER go into the water. My last time there, I thought that the rooms were rather tired, but perhaps the Regency Club rooms have been more recently renovated.
Pluses for me are: the pool (and for a snazzier pool you can take the free shuttle to the Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua);
the most beautiful spa (although it is rather pricy at US$90 for a one hour massage);
the beautiful gardens (mature, and very extensive, the Hyatt has a lot of garden around it and I really enjoy the spaciousness);
and the great service (a lot of the staff at the Hyatt have been there a long time, they speak good English and they know their stuff. Many of the younger hotels has correspondingly younger and inexperienced staff, which can be annoying/irritating sometimes)
