We've staysed in Nusa Dua twice now, at the same hotel each time - The Nusa Dua Beach Hotel which seems to be the oldest, or at least the least modern of the hotels. I think it is a beautiful place, much more spacious than the others. As for rates, the first time we bought it as part of a package with Royal Brunei Airlines and it cost around US$100 for a family room including transfers and breakfasts. The second time we used an agent in Bali which was not a success. His price changed, he said breakfasts were included but they weren't and then the hotel hadn't been paid before we left and were reluctant to let us leave as they had no idea who our agent was (even though they'd accepted our booking and hadn't contacted him during our 14 day stay). Anyway the desk clerk gave me his card and told me to fax him direct next time. Are you aware that in Bali all desk clerks can offer you a discounted rate and still make a commission for themselves. They willl never tell you to contact an agent, they would rather you were their customer. The problem is of course that the manager may already have given the rooms to an overseas agent, especially during peak season.
My advice is to pick your hotel using the Internet info and guides and then fax them direct with dates, rooms etc and ask them to beat their so-called special internet rates. This vacation coming up we've booked 2 hotels and each has done exactly that, they've gone down from their internet rate, included tax and breakfast. You should try dealing with them direct, or flying to Bali on Royal Brunei Airlines...
