Me and my wife like long beach walk. We stayed at Melio Benoa hotel and paid 490$ canadian for 11 days including breakfeast, 8 diners for 2 and 5 Panorama tours. We reserved in september when exchange rates were better than now so it is to you to judge.
We walked from the incredibly superb Hilton bali hotel located at extreme south of nusa dua up to our hotel next to Club Med hotel. While walking, we stopped at several places and swim in the sea as well in the pools.... (d'ont tell them and do it, buy a beer if ...). Every hotel along the walk is wonderfull. We could have paid easily twice in some of these hotel. I travel often and want request good hotel. Overall we made a good choice at Melia Benoa a realy 5 star hotel with a very good Bali service, nice gardens. Free shuttle bus every day to Kuta if you want it. Nearly every room get a reasonable view of the sea. Mention you want a panoramic view on the sea at reservation time. We had a room on third and highest floor and were very satisfied. The beach at nusa dua in front of the hotel is full of algea as well as many other in nusa dua. We love swimming and snorkeling in the sea but walking at other places, taking tours and going to nusa dua fully satisfied us.
Bali is not the best place for beach. Kuta is crouded but peoples and country is absolutely wonderfull.
