I suggest you set up a hotmail (or similar web based email) email account before you leave - that way people can email you at that account & you can check it whenever you feel like it, and mail from it as well.

P.S. I paid about Rp10,000 for 15 min at a place in Kuta, I didn't use the full 15 min but when they tried to work out how much to charge me for the 8 min I used, I didn't bother as I found 10,000 (about Aus$1.50 at the time) cheap enough.
