Missy, I had a similar experience several years ago. My wife and I had a fantastic trip all through Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong and the Philippines etc). I had no problems at all right through the weeks of the trip. We had been back a few days, when I started to feel rather strange. Having been to some exotic locations, I thouight I had better go see a doctor. I was having a few bouts of fever, rigors (shivers) and dizziness. When I told him where we had been, he rang the Infectious diseases hospital here in Melbourne who told me to go straight to the hospital, do not pass 'GO'. Do not collect $200. I was placed in a cage (with a room attached) for 5 days. I had all sorts of tests. was poked and prodded by the best of them. Would wake from a nap to see myself surrounded by interns, who, each in turn, would have a go at a diagnosis. I was so bruised around my abdomen as they had a poke and a feel of my liver. They all thought that I had picked up some kind of parasite (Malaria!).
They found nothing, so after dozens of tests thay just patted me on the bum then sent me home. There has been no re-occurance.
These strange things do happen. I was only lucky that it hit me a few days after my return.
Regards
