Had my first trip to Bali in October. Agree very much with JG. Only thing I checked a few times was that ice in drinks was made from boiled water. All assured me that it was - anyway I had no troubles and ate in a wide variety of places.
Best in Kuta area - Gosha's on Jl Melasti and Made's Warung which anyone can direct you to.
I agree with JG that Jimbaran Beach is an experience not to miss but I found the lobster and crab overcooked and chewy. I would say stick to fish & prawns - then again maybe I didn't pick the right cafes to try; there are about 50 to choose from on the beach!
