We were in Bali during the PDI convention. There were 30,000 politically motivated Indonesians running around basically just having a good time. The sight of a convoy of about 100 bikes,vans & trucks all covered in red flags,stickers & people wearing red shirts & bandannas, that greeted us several times a day for 4 days, is one of the memories that will stay with us forever. I personally am glad I went during what was supposed to be the most dangerous time in Bali for the past 30 years. Unless you start trouble you won't see any. Bali throughout the majority of it's history has been one of the safest places in asia & is a completely different world to the rest of Indonesia.
Definitly definitly go to Bali!!
