Well, the reset button does exactly that. It resets the form. That means that it wipes out everything you've typed so far and sends it to outer space...
It is a good idea to type lenghty posts in a text editor of your choice and then copy and paste it.
BTW, working for 3 hours on a computer without saving your work is asking for trouble anyway.
