I haven't stayed at the bintang resortbut have walked past it, seems really huge and in a good spot, maybe a little further out than ideal but plenty of transport to kuta etc from that area.In fact I can reccomend a driver who hangs out in front of the dynasty hotel (slightly north of bintang resort),his name is Ricky.Home address is Jalan Imam Bonjol,Gang Ulun Danu No.1, Denpeasar.Plenty of good restauerants around tuban, western and indonesian. McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut all on jalan Kartika plaza. Must try jimbaran bay for seasfood and great seafood. Grab a driver for about 24000Rp to take you there and wait till you finish.Pick your own fish ,prawns etc for under 100 000Rp including drinks. Check out the statue of Ramanyana on the way back, very impressive!
I found tuban very interesting to just walk around especially in early morning. Check out the back streets and the kids getting ready for school in the mornings etc.Plenty of touristy things in tuban like the waterbom park and go kart track. We used a number of money changers on the main drag through tuban and didn't have any trouble getting ripped off. Also try out the smaller supermarkets, you will always find something interesting and different in them.
