Your insurance will not be affected. The climb is more in the line of a moderate to hard trek. The guides climb in flipflops and if you follow their instructions there shouldn't be any problems. I should clarify that Martin is referring to the Mt Batur climb, the Gunung Agung climb is longer but apparently is not as scenic.

I liked the comment about "high noon", Jill and I went for a stroll along the main st (the only street) in Toyah Bunkah but we were prevented from leaving the town by the most aggressive dogs we'd met to date. Perhaps this is why they transport you back from the trek!
