The money changer on the right hand side of Jl Kartikaplaza (when comming from the Holiday Inn) just opposite the Kuta Art market seems good and honest. I didn't use him myself, but took a first-day Aussie tourist in there to change some money and had no problems. From memory it is a white shop with a long counter just inside the door way.

As far as a good driver goes, it all depends on what you want !! - I used Made Korma (phone (0361) 702383). He is no great tour guide, but I loved the way that he didn't talk all the time and was happy to just point out things as we went passed, also he didn't try to take me to any shops to buy things. His car is nothing special, but it got us to where we were going without any problems. I paid him Rp100,000 for a 6 hour trip to Ubud, Monkey Forrest & a drive to look at rice fields (my idea, he was a bit surprised - but did it). The second day I paid Rp200,000 for a 8 hour trip to Lake Batur, Elephant Cave & several other places in the centre of Bali.

As for other tips around Tuban/Kuta...for a good, but very cheap meal try out Bali Bagia on Jl Barkungsari, the food is great, staff wonderful & a 3 course meal with 2 beers for about Rp35,000.

Best breakfast...the Mexican place next to the All Star Surf Cafe in Kuta Square (sorry..forgot the name of the place - but you can't miss it when walking down Jl Kartikaplaza).

Well, enough for this post, e-mail me if there is anything else.

Regards
