Feeling a bit crusty this morning as I decided to do a bit of partying, Kuta-style. Thank god for Balinese coffee!
Well, the Ocean Blue Rendezvous failed to materialize last night. Several forum members were supposed to meet at the Ocean Blue Hotel bar at 6:00 pm last night. I waited until 6:30, then walked across the street to get some dinner. I returned at 7:00 and waited until 7:30, all the while sipping those tasty Bintang beers. After waiting a total of an hour (and 4 Bintangs), I decided it was time to leave.
After that, went on down to the Bounty for the happy hour. Pretty good place, lots of people. Then I went to the Sari Club. As a 33 year-old male, felt a bit out of place as most people couldn't have been older than 24. However, the testosterone, pheromones, sweat, and perfume in there was quite intoxicating.
Stumbled on down to the Maccaroni Club around midnight for a pizza. Nice place and the food was very good.
I think I'll stay one more night at the Adi Dharma. It is really a very nice place. I'm a single traveler, but my room has 2 baths and 3 beds! The staff is very friendly (as I've noticed of all Balinese), and the omelette breakfast was very good and was included in the room rate. The breakfast was much better than the Mastapa.
Broke my heart to see those young mothers holding their newborn children while begging on the street in Kuta at midnight. As the father of a 2 year-old, that really pulled my heart strings. I tried to hand out as many 500 rupiah bills as I could, but I finally had to say goodbye.
Meeting with some garment manufacturers today to import some of this beautiful clothing.
I haven't met many Aussies in my life so far, but have found them here on Bali to be a very fiendly and outgoing sort. But for the accent, they're the same as Americans (I hope this doesn't offend you folks down under).
See ya on Day 3.
Keith.
