Violence against ethnic Chinese erupted across Indonesia during the past year. As a Chinese-American tourist, I've always enjoyed vacations to Bali. However, reports about large scale rape and pillage specifically targeting ethnic Chinese scares me. I know that Bali is different from the rest of Indonesia, however, the recent political convention held in Bali worries me. Is it safe now for ethnic Chinese to visit Bali?
Since millions are living in dire poverty in other parts of Indo, will Bali receive a large influx of refugees or political agitators?
Any comment will be appreciated.
