We have stayed here as a family of four and throughly enjoyed it although our children at 15 & 18 preferred Legian and were a little bored.
As far as the cottages go we found them comfortable, clean with delighful outlooks.
With regard to the walk to the village I suggest you ask the staff about it and go by youself.. One of the staff actually suggested the walk to us when we meentioned we were going into Ubud. It took about twenty minutes/half hour and was a good experience. You start the walk behind the pool.
I am sure you will enjoy Ananda.
