I have stayed at the Bounty Hotel and Rama Palace. Both are affordable and the service is pretty good. The Bounty is about 5 mins walk to the main street or the beach. Rama Palace is on the beach and about 10 mins walk to the main street. Have friends who have also stayed at the Sahid which is also on the beach, they were impressed but you will have to ask your travel agent about this one because it is not listed in most catalogues.
