These little mongrels are a real problem for some people. They are a tiny leach like creature which live in bamboo furniture, esp the stools at the beach bars. If you look at the bamboo you will see all the tiny pin holes that they bite you through and they DO bite through clothing like t-shirts and sarongs. The best prevention is to carry mossie repellant in your day pack and give the chair a spray where you make contact. The bites can produce coin sized lumps which itch like blazes and get worse if you scratch. Tiger balm or Silver Clove provide some relief but they can last 4-5 days. Almost as irritating as the hawkers :)

Geoff.
