Here is one thing that we really enjoyed in Bali, and I think kids would love it :)
Go visit the Bali Bird and Reptile Park in Gyaniar. It's not far from Ubud and Sanur (halfway to both places), and it's beautiful. You can see lots of funny and amazing creatures, you can also touch and play with Water Monitors, Iguana, Big Python... There's a walk-in aviary, which is a rain-forest habitat to lovely birds.
It's not to expensive, you can buy a combination ticket to both the parks at the booth.
