While there is very little you can do to make the actual trip better (sleep is about the only thing that really helps unless you fly business/first class), we have found the following helpful for lessening jet lag:
1) change your sleeping habits for 3-5 days before you leave by going to sleep earlier or later depending on which way your body clock needs to change;
2) change your diet on the day before and during the flight to align yourself with the meals you'd be eating in Bali (this might require you to bring some of your own food).
3) stay away from alcohol
4) drink a lot of water and juices
as for what to do once you're on Bali:
1) have modest expectations as to what you can accomplish the first few days;
2) stay at a place away from noise and crowds, rest and relax, but try to keep long naps to a minimum;
3) try to eat b'fast at b'fast time, etc.
4) have a stiff drink or glass of wine before turning in for the evening;
5) be patient since it will take a few days, regardless of what you do and stressing out about daytime fatigue or sleepless nights will only lessen your enjoyment of Bali.
Hope this helps.
