Having wandered around Bali and video'd a number of hotels, you might like to look at brochures containing the following:
Four Seasons at Jimbaran Bay. Wear side of Bali sandy beaches.
Kupu Kupu Barong at Ubud. Good views over valley and river. (watch the white water rafting from your room).
Oberoi Villas at Seminyak. West side of Bali north of Kuta and Legian.
The Bali Cliff at Ungasan in the south of the island is excellent, although I don't think that they have villas. The pools and views are magnificent. As you would expect, the hotel is built on a cliff.
These would give you a good diversity that covers the many "faces" of Bali.
Have always stayed away from Nusa Dua. The hotels seem too big and away from the action.
