G'day Ben,
I hope I can be of some assistance with your questions about White Water Rafting.
There are a few White Water Rafting businesses operating in Bali at the moment.
There are full day and half day trips.
I have only been on the half day trip with two different companies. Sobek and Ayung River Rafting.
In all fairness to you let me firstly mention that we promote the Ayung River Rafting as in my opinion that is the better of the two.
You get picked up from your hotel fairly early in the morning and get transported to the base, where there are change rooms, a restaurant with breathtaking views that overlooks a cliff and souveneer shop.
You then get a short briefing on safety, get handed your equipment which comprises of life jacket, paddles and helmet.
The two and a half hour journey which covers 8 kms, takes you through some of the most beautiful countryside on the Ayung River. You pass through some interesting rapids with the experienced and professional Balinese guide who is shouting out instructions throughout the trip. He will give you a choice wheather you want to take the "Hard or Easy" way down the rapids depending who is in the raft.
You stop for a short break mid way through the trip next to a waterfall which most of the time you get taken under. They encourage you to take photos there as the scenery is fantastic. Oh, by the way you can get waterproof bags for your camera at the base before the trip.
At the end of the journey you get transfered back to the base where you can get changed and then have a buffet style meal. You can also purchase photos of your trip which were taken on your way down the river or a choice of T'shirts and other items.
You then get transported back to your hotel.
The price is about US$63 adults and US$45 for children under 12.
