Yes, August (and the second half of July) are absulute
peak seasons for Bali, and it is often impossible to get
the hotel of your choice. This does not mean you have to
sleep on the beach -- there is always accommodation
available, but even places you'd normally never consider
are charging exorbitant rates.
Many hotels also tell you during check-in already that
you have to move out the next day or the day after
because they are full then. This can be quite frustrating!
Better book your accommodation in advance. BTW, Jimbaran is an excellent choice. Please have a look at our HBF site.
