I always vote for a hotel. My husband is the same and want to rent a villa, but staying at a hotel is wonderful for me. I enjoy all the restaurants and talking to the other people.
I know that this is more expensive -- we pay probably HK$6,000-8,000 which is US$800-1,000 or more for a two bedroom suite, food & drinks per day and would spend in a villa much less, but holidays are so seldom! And I want to relax and enjoy, too.
