I stayed many times with friends who have a house far away from other buildings. I never felt not safe there, and I know that my friends even do not lock any doorswhen they go away! The fact that one of the maids is at the house all the time might help, but generally there seem to be no security problems in Bali. Let's hope it remains like this!
