Any chance you could contribute to other forums in your travels, you mentioned yo work in varied destinations, perhaps you could throw in the odd restaurant review whilst visiting?

Sad you didn't, get Ubud, I think a few days there sans children might be in order, as you felt it wasn't a family friendly destination. Personally I think children can gain much from an Ubud experience, minus the glam and glitter seen in other locales.
Have to say in August saw many European families happily buzzing around Ubud.
