If you leave the pod whole however, and put it into a full bottle of vodka - you'll get a lovely vanilla flavoured vodka which is also not such a bad thing :)
I have a friend who does this and then mixes the vanilla vodka with kahlua and a slurp if milk or uses it to pimp up a Bailey's on ice.
