Day 4
Woke up had breakfast, went shopping at Kuta square in the morning and lunch at Dulang again. Cheeseburger was nice, they are fairly scabby on the french fries though I thought! Went down to the beach hired some surfboards and watched the boys surf, Noggin caught a heap of waves and is getting really good! Went to mozzarella's by the sea for dinner, this is beautiful, have been to padma st many a time but not this one, the sunset was amazing, as was my blue cheese and garlic cream pasta, had a few cosmopolitans there also which were fantastic, hubby had the steak and again wasn't too impressed hasn't had a good steak in Bali yet! Bought some slingshots for Nugget and Noggin and we spent a while on the beach flinging them up, they love these and we buy them each year. Kids spent some time in kids club today, they had movie time the theartre is amazing and they also baked cupcakes, I can't say enough about the staff here, they really involve the kids so much and generally seem to enjoy being with them. Their service by the pool is lacking, I like hotels that have the flag you put up and they come and take your order, it's very hard to get service around the pool... Sorry daily rant..
Day 5
Awoke around 7:30 am finally! Much better than 5 am! Off to breakfast and then straight to waterbom. Nugget and Noggin have died and gone to heaven, they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves they went on slide after slide, and even Nugget went on the raft river by himself with me before him and Emu came behind and well did he think he was the biggest boy ever! I had the best BBQ corn, dripping in butter and spices, after gyming every day and "clean eating" for months on end to lose 4-5 kgs to feel comfy in my kinis, I have managed to put 4 back on in a week even after walking about 5 k each day.. Such a crime but I'm here to enjoy the food regardless of the fact A Balinese guy asked me if I had baby in my belly when I had just finished my nasi goreng today :0/ I told him no baby, nasi gorneg, and decided against purchasing anything from his shop! Came back to hotel and Emu and I went for an hour massage at my fave "Santai spa". So hard to get in these days as everyone seems to be on to this hidden treasure, you have to book ahead 2-3 days in advance. The massage was amazing as usual and definitely worth the wait. Emu and Nugget stayed in and got a pizza, whilst I, Mumma and Noggin went out to sandbar. Beautiful setting and presentation of food, I had nasi goreng and wasn't impressed, tasted bland with a seafood taste to it (hate seafood), Mumma had mie goreng and loved it, Noggin had schnitzels, veggies and chips, was very nice as I had some!
Then went off to Angelina's spa in poppies 1, I got a foot massage and nails painted, Mumma had a foot massage and Noggin had a back massage. He loved it and nearly fell asleep. My nails were pretty average but both Mumma and I were happy with the foot massages. Off to Bali marine and safari park tomorrow.
Day 6
Up early and on a day trip to Ubud Markets and then the Bali Marine and safari park, Ubud was lovely as always, a nice change from Kuta and Legian.. I could look at the scenery all day, it's so calming somehow. One highlight was seeing a man completely naked bent over in a river brushing his teeth, definitely got all of us on the bus roaring in ohhs, ahhs and laughter! From Ubud we went to imade gallery and restaurant, Ubud. I had Bakmi Goreng ayam which was very nice, the view from this restaurant is spectacular. From here off to the safari park, thoroughly enjoyed the white tigers, and had our photo with the lion cub, some people are so stupid and forget that this animal is wild at heart regardless of its captivity, although only a cub still old enough and strong enough to kill, they run around in herds taking photos with no respect for anyone else and one lady even did fast hand movements to the lions face about 3 times! Im not too sure what she was thinking but certainly got the handlers in a bit of a frazzle! Some of them would lightly pat and tickle the lion rather than the firm pat as advised by the Balinese staff makng the cub jerk around all the time. They never cease to amaze me.. Ok rant over.
Safari drive was great and the habitats are beautifully kept and animals look to be in good condition. Photo with the orang-utan was also great and Nugget and Noggin claimed these as the highs for the day. Off to the water park for the arvo, nice and relaxing. Boys finally get to see Rini from Balis best babysitting and are both so excited to see her after a year with big hugs and stories to tell her. She truly is amazing with my boys and was so happy to see them. Adults Off to the legends bar for dinner and drinks and then in the komotoa music bus pumping its music through Kuta to the bounty for some more drinks, this was a highlight as everyone stared at us headng through the streets.. Now Yes I know it's the bounty but I had to show my Mumma and brother what it was like, particually the ever so amusing Karoke downstairs which in my mind is ever so amusing, especially the guy whom Im sure thought he was Eminem which refused to get down and continued to ad lib rapping rants whilst people were singing songs like adele hmmm, upstairs highly intoxicated young Aussie males in bintangs singlets or topless everywhere, men in fights, and also shakin there thing on the podiums, in their minds im sure they looked like Michael Jackson but from where I was sitting it appeared like some sort of uncotrollable fits were taking place.... good for a laugh, love the Balinese Male dancers they were fantastic struttin their stuff, and back home with a certain hangover to face in the morning!
Day 7
Up late nursing a mild hangover to breakfast and fill myself with a big bacon and eggs breaky with all the trimmings.. Nugget and Noggin off to kids club for a couple of hours so mummy and daddy could recover by the pool. Get the boys at lunch and Noggin decides he wants to stay in kids club, Nugget comes with me and spends the arvo with Mr Bean in the ever so amazing pool, Noggin finally joins us and they play with Mr Bean following him around like little puppy dogs where ever he goes, I wouldn't be surprised if I get home to Australia and they've stuffed him in their suitcases! Noggin wins the surfboard paddle contest and proudly wears his HRH gold medal around his neck. The pool staff boys are exceptional with the kids here, I really can't fault them at all. Off to Jimbaran Bay and the New Moon restaurant, the sunset is spectacular as always and Mumma, B and L are in heaven with their seafood and the amazing backdrop as Emu and I dont eat seafood I asked the man if he had chicken, after much laughter he says come with me and hands me a non seafood menu.. My chicken was horrid it looked like it had been slowly dried in the sun over a period of days and was certainly the runt of the pack, needless to say I couldnt eat it and I went to the corn man instead, back home to bed for a much awaited sleep. Mummas flying home tomorrow, so I'm taking her shopping and a massage at Santai spa.
