3 Vespas for export to Godzone with my son around 12 years ago and the chrome only lasted a year or so before it corroded. They tell me good chrome is actually electroplated with nickle first which gives the smooth base, much of the corrosion resistance and most of the reflective properties, with a light plating of chrome on top putting the iceing on the cake.
If you want to have your chrome bits looking good in 5 years time perhaps better to give the job to your local guy who will do a good job and give you a guarantee on his work.
