we love going for Christmas & New Year (Christmas especially) but you do have to expect to hear the sound of fireworks going off frequently (if you're lucky, in the distance & if not, within the grounds of the hotel), and drunken idiots abound (but this is true of anywhere on NYE). Traffic is also more of a nightmare than usual & it is quicker to walk anywhere than go by taxi.
We just go out early for NYE dinner close to the hotel, then head back & put our little one to bed & finish our celebrations on the balcony of our room.
