who ever told you that they were bred in captivity was most likely lying and telling you what they thought you wanted to hear.
However, animals do not have to be "happy" to breed in captivity, they can be depressed and trapped.
I am surprised you found the experience unforgettable, I have always wanted to swim with dolphins but would never swim with anything but free ones in the wild.
One day I might pay the fee for swimming somewhere like Port Phillip Bay where dolphin swims are held but are with free, wild dolphins who may or may not decide they want to interact with me.
Being netted in a large open water enclosure when you should be roaming the oceans is wrong and cruel.
It is interesting that you can condone it even tho you speak of how intelligent they are.
I doubt they have any respect for you as you are part of the situation they have been captured into.
you are really teaching your daughter well.....
