We use the Bali bags too, but just use a bit of electrical tape to hold the three straps together - and also around the bag in 3 spots to stop the zips from splitting.
The bags don't seem to be as well made anymore though. Had no 6 bags that were used for about 4 trips (both ways) and upgraded to no 7 bags for this trip home (since Virgin now allow only one bag per 23kg lot of luggage allowance, and not able to split between two bags). We had 6 bags between the three of us, and 3 of them the handles ripped off one end anyway, and two of those also had small splits in the zips. Still, they're not expensive and we probably won't use bags that size and with that much weight each as we won't fly Virgin again anyway.
