I hate coming home, I say to Mal, the time that I am glad to come home will be the last time I go to Bali!! Well trip no 15 in 8 years was fun, hot, interesting, lazy, weight gaining, liver destroying, and socially entertaining!
The weekend before going to Bali was our Nieces wedding at Airlie Beach Nth Qld.......bestest ever wedding and much fun had by all rellies on all sides of all the families!! Their weding package included 5 nts at a 4 bed/4bath Villa at Canggu (Villa Raja..google it! It is stunning....no longer available though owners moving back :() So 3 other couples(their mates) joined them, thus became their "Buddymoon!"
We arrived a few days later and stayed a couple of nights in Lumbung Sari, budget, up three Bros Lane adjacent to Siri Ratu Legian. I personally like this type of accom, small, gardens, hot water, flushing toilet, simple brekky, nice staff.
We then moved to the Melasti Beach.....now I have always said no no no....but couldn't get into a few of our favourites so opt for a week here to spend time with the Buddymooners etc.! I was pleasantly surprised, the room was adequate, the staff, particularly our Ketut, was a joy...... nothing too much trouble even at nearly 90% full.
The breakfasts were good, I thought plenty to choose from, the pools clean, the location perfect for us I like to chat to the beach girls Mal surfs so all good.....Buddymooners visited quite often and loved the location, and the beers always cold (Not as cold as yours Ron but close!!)
When the Mates left the Honeymooners we had booked to do C Bali cultural tour....Rachael and Sibran gave us a day we did not/will not forget quickly......Unfortunately the "Bride"had bali belly, but insisted she could manage! But by the time we got to Kedisan she was a no go.....Rachael organised a room,we had a simple tasty breakfast then did the bike/walking village tour....loved it. Very informative and interesting and also the relationship between Rach and Sibran and their village.
We will forever joke to my Niece about the "Honeymoon suite at Kedisan".
By the time we got back from the bike/walk/talk/taste/drink/chat/ our "Honeymooner" was feeling better and keen to do the canoeing, so after an enormous local fish plus plus lunch its off to the lake.
The lake (Batur) was a bit choppy, but we all had the best time, loved it.......Our Honeymooners were happy, we were happy, the only dissappointing part to this whole day is the traffic getting home, we felt sorry for Rach & Sibran who still had a way to go!!!
If you are thinking of doing this tour but maybe think it may be too hard or too easy!! Although Rach seems super organised we managed to totally disorganise her (soo0rry!) They will make sure your day is worth your efforts and theirs. Thank you Rach and Sibran. I also have a great photo proving that Rachael does not paddle all the time!!:)
Then a move to Sanur Beach Villas for 7 days of rest, ha ha ha ......as usual an assortment of guests at this place always makes it interesting, Thanks Ron & Irma for encouraging my kind of people to my kind of place! :)
Kesumas new place not far from the old place is still the same, good cheap food, great views and very handy to SBV. Gardenias new coffee shop "Sweet Magnolia"is a great addition to this part of Mertasari Beach.....pick of the week was Lemon Pie and iced latte:)
Other places we ate, Ryoshis Japanese,Jl Tambligan, Jepun, MaMaPututs, DeAnti , Bobby's, Bamboo.
Not to forget a great sunday afternoon of great music, copious amounts of alcohol and chips and gravy! at the Duckz Nutz......
Our trip to the airport was the total opposite of arriving which was the worst 3 hrs, 6 planes had landed, voa was chock a block, carport was at a standstill, traffic was horrendous, never seen it like this before yuk!!!
But leaving was cruisy, plus it was sunday no traffic, so early we went to the Dewa Lounge and relaxed for a couple of hours.
All booked for march to check out Lombok again and Gilis..........Deb:)
