If you changed the gender of the victim in this story it would still be a very common tale of woe. The exact percentage or number of men who get played in this way compared with women who get played this way, I don't know, but the scam attempts are a daily event. As a young man once said to me after a prospect went home "The airport is open 24 hours a day".
