In the last year have stayed at Dynasty (new family studio room), BGH (2 x deluxe I/C rooms), Jayakarta (2 x 1brm I/C apts), and end of March at the Patra (deluxe suite). We took two small children 2 & 5 yrs and a 15yr old except to the Patra where it was just the littlies.
Loved the location of the BGH, good pool bar, lovely pools and grounds, great restaurants. The only downside was the rooms were run down but everything else made up for that. Don't remember it having a kids club.
Jayakarta was great (if we could put the apts in the BGH grounds we would be very happy as we like that area!) If going with just the littlies we would just get a 1brm apt, was plenty big enough as they slept on the one sofa bed together. I think there was a kids club there but we never saw it.
Didn't mind the Patra location, is quite a long walk with small children but short taxi ride. The deluxe suite was beautiful and pools lovely. Staff exceptionally lovely. Did have a kids club but no set activities like at the Dynasty. Not many kids in there either even though there were quite a few staying at the resort that week. Only reason I wouldn't stay there again is that the food and drinks were soooo expensive there. Round of drinks at the pool were about $40Au!
Have just booked cheap flights for Feb with Virgin and am stumped about where to stay. Looking to go fairly cheap. Would definitely go BGH if I could get a good price but I'm sure it won't be in the range I'm looking for. At this stage more likely to book Jayakarta 1brm apt for 4-5n then move to Ubud and maybe couple of nights at Lovina (haven't been before but am interested in having a look further out).
Closest you'd find to Dynasty from what you've said would be Patra I'd say. I got a really good deal last year but looking now it's heaps more expensive as with everywhere! Febri's has an unsupervised kids 'play room' but very basic. No kids club as such.
Good luck with your planning. I've given up at the moment!
I'll leave email open in case I can answer any ?'s about any of the places. : )
