reading through this forum you would think there are only about 20 hotels on Bali and that if you haven't booked you will have nowhere to stay. There are hundreds and hundreds of accommodations in Bali- depending on your budget and tastes.
If you want to stay at one of the 'named' hotels you probably need to book. If you are happy to arrive ans venture into a few places you will find great accommodation at fraction of the 'named' hotels most having rooms available.
No they will not be top of the range hotels but they will generally be clean family run accommodations offering a good deal.
Freogirl I think said she has never booked and I have never booked anywhere in over thirty years of travelling to Bali-I have also never stayed at one of the named hotels.
