many moons ago, I used to just remember my passport number & never use to take my passport when cashing TC's. I was never asked to show passport by the people cashing them, just asked to fill out the slip.
Been a long time so maybe things have changed, but when you look back on it that was pretty sloppy on the part of the people cashing them.
