Hey Chrissy, You are going to have a great time.
Just have a few solutions to mistakes we made on our first day of our first trip. lol
Dont let the porters touch your bags at the airport.
Catch a taxi straight to your hotel and start to enjoy and relax. Your hotel is your safehaven from the hustle and bustle of the streets, you can get back there and relax any time you need to.
Dont be scared of the welcome drink at the hotel. (it is ussually some sort of juice mix)Safe to drink and really refreshing. (it just looks scary) lol
Dont buy anything on the first day, the sellers arent going anywhere, and you will find the same thing at 100 other shops in that area.
Try not to get sucked into the timeshare traps, unless the offer is really good, then a 90 minute speel in airconditioning with a cold drink isnt too bad. We got 1 million Rp. off our hotel bill for one of the presentations we sat through. (The free holidays that they offer are nearly impossible to use, so not worth wasting your time)

Most importantly
Make freinds with other guests in your hotel/resort. Most of the time they have already been there and done that, and are ussually most happy to show you the great places that they shop for bargains, get massages and eat.
There wont be too many people on this forum who have not met some great new freinds in Bali, who they keep in contact, and even plan future holidays with to bali.

We will be arriving in bali on 11th of May staying in Legian, so may see you around.
Cheers
MArk and Heather
