I had a bit of an issue with steps as I had done the sobek Ayong river last trip. The ride was pretty gentle but the steps were hard work. A very long way down may be 100 down and as many up which is harder work. So I wanted no steps as I have a bad knee.
The steps down were wide but steep and not the usual distance... maybe 18 inches high. There were only roughly 10 which I managed okay with care. they were not slippery and fairly wide so you could stop most steps. The ride was rougher than the ayoung river but not too rough. My 9 year old had no trouble and I would take a smaller child. The guides were great. They stop at a waterfall for 10 mintues which means you have to get out of the raft into shallow water but no difficulty accessing the bank once out of the raft. There is also a dam that you need to get out of the raft and climb down some wooden stairs. They are steep but have hand rails and were faily secure. Toward the end of the rafting trip there is a dam wall that you go over in the raft. It is about 4 metres hight. They stop the raft at the side and get you set up for it. You sit onthe bottom of the raft and brace your feet against the front or the seat infront of you and then they take you over. It is quite a jolt but a real thill. At the end the disembarcation point is a small concrete area where you can take off your helmut etc. Again the steps up are steep but wide and not many compared to some of the other companies that finish before BI. I would suggest having a look at the website as I think they have photos of rafts going over the dam wall at the end. It would probably be fine if he took his time with the steps and well worth the effort. I think price for me and my daughter was around 900,000rp but well worth it.
There were virtually no other walking. The car drives you to the drop off point and at the end meets you at the shower area at the level where you walk to. It may not even be 20 steps up but they are steep so it may be slow going but even if he took one at a time and rested it is not that many may 15-20 metres. The only issue may be the wodden steps over the dam. and waiding through shallow water around these steps.
Let me know if you want any more specific info and I will wrack my poor old brain.
