My bargaining technique is that I tell the hirer that there is a fellow in Poppies 2 lane who is willing to hire a motorcycle to me for Rp 20,000 a day for 10 days hire.
Before accepting a bike in Bali, I always check that there is:
* no more than 1 inch slack in the chain; and
* plenty of tread on the tyres.
I also put my foot on the rear brake pedal and push hard, the bike should not move, and I squeeze the front brake lever and push, the bike should again not move.
