I have just checked Singapore Airlines - www.singaporeair.com and for departure JFK/New York for Denpasar 20 July, returning Denpasar/JFK 27 July, total including Taxes/Surcharges US$1,910.70. Cathay Pacific on same dates via Hong Kong is US$1840.00 including Taxes/Surcharges.
You will find there are just SO many options available to you between New York and Bali and prices will vary greatly. What you need to consider is the vast distance to be covered and determine if a more direct route/connection such as that offered by Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific, even if more expensive than some other carriers, would be worth the money in shorter travelling time. Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific enjoy a reputation for superb service and particularly young fleets.
