I did prompt him at the airport, amazing how kids can forget what they did 2 weeks ago if they still have something stuck in their head from the last 24 hours. My son had to write a report for school anyway as he missed a week & a bit so I'll give him the feedback (he wont see it till next weekend), all that feedback will really help him with his confidence, report is due Monday.
Also, I want to thank those who told me what their kids enjoyed and to point out to other parents considering Bali a few things:
1. Get out there and meet the locals, not just the staff in the hotels, they are paid to be friendly to you.
2. Learn something new together, like surfing or cooking or anything you both haven't done before
3.Book, we missed a few things as I left it to the day before and it was booked out or a 'holiday'.
4.Do a long drive together (thanks to tanalee for her kids memories which prompted this)
5.Show your kids the poorer side of Bali, visit a poor village, an orphanage or school in the rural areas. We did a great tour that had this, it was a cycle tour but you spent a lot of time walking the bikes, I felt this touched my son more than anything as he visited a school, met poor kids and learnt how the lived, he didn't just fly past them on a bike with them high fiving so he thought it was all rosy, he met the kids and saw the filth and rubbish they play in and he is very much into his Environmental Studies (we believe he'll be a Greeny, god help us) so he is now determined to help in some way.
Thanks everyone, back to work Monday...
