The right wing was closed for renovation while we were there last week.
We stayed in a suite in the left wing but asked to be changed because the walls were filthy, upholstery stained and torn. The new room was not much better.
It was difficult to get good service from the staff and complaints generally went unanswered. A friend also had stuff stolen from his room. The GM is apologetic but doesn't seem to have firm control on his staff.
The standards at this hotel have gone down hill rapidly in the last 12 months. It is certainly not 5 star as they claim to be. More like 2-3 star at the moment. Pool and gardens are still great as are the restaurants, but the accommodation is very poor and service is appalling. Others may have different experience but we were very disappointed given the price we paid.
